Speaking ill of others does not make us bigger, quite the contrary, it makes us smaller. When we hurl harmful words, we are stripping ourselves of our own dignity. It's as if we were taking off a piece of clothing in public, exposing our weaknesses and fears. No, we don't gain anything with gossip and criticism. Let's treat each other with the same respect that we expect to receive. It's like an echo in the mountain; what you send out into the universe, comes back to you. So why not send respect, kindness, and love? That way, that's what will come back into our lives. Don't forget that each time you respect yourself, you're showing the world how it should treat you.
I vow to the sun and to the bright moon,
to never speak ill of the absent,
to be dignified, in my constant tune,
a good woman, ever present.
With respect, you'll see me stride,
in each step, my eternal promise,
to be better, in dealing, in love's tide,
in each gesture, in each tender solace.
No matter what the wind may bring,
or the storms of life,
my word, like a rock, will not fling,
I'll always be served by kindness, rife.
Today I propose, in verse and prose,
not to harm with my tongue, mighty,
I'll be light, I'll be rose,
for humanity, a woman bright and flighty.
