Sometimes we feel overwhelmed with life's problems, but God always comes to our aid, rescues us and gives us reasons to trust in Him.
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
I trust in him with all my heart.
He has always helped me.
That is why, in spite of everything,
I joyfully sing his praises.
When we feel overwhelmed, it's easy to forget that our God is always with us. Sometimes it just feels like He's not there—and that's when we need Him most.
I believe that when we're feeling vulnerable or scared, or even just a little bit down, we should turn to God as though He were a best friend and tell Him about it. We may not get the same kind of response from Him as we would from another person, but I think He does care about us and wants us to know it. God is our Father, and He loves us. When we're feeling overwhelmed because of things that have happened in our lives, it's easy to forget that. But when we remember how much God loves us, it helps us feel better about everything else that's going on. And when looking back in our lives, it's clear that he has been with us, helping us, loving us, freeing us from much more than we could imagine or see.
And here's just one example of how this might work in practice: if you're feeling overwhelmed with work or schoolwork, take a moment and go outside and look at the sky—it really helps me! And then talk to God about how stressed out you are by saying something like "Lord, I'm so stressed out right now! Please help me calm down." And then wait for His reply…
